Ok it turns out muting "nostr" absolutely breaks it in non-expected ways. Notes containing nostr.build url images get muted and any note quoting also causes a mute since it includes the "nostr:" uri string.

Rule number 1 of the Nostr. You do not mute the Nostr.

In mother nostria, the mute shouts at you

Oh god, he can't see it.

I mean.. isn't that what was supposed to happen?

Nah, the expectation is that only things that get rendered as text should be muted. If a mentioned vanity pubkey contained a muted string by some odd chance, should the note also be muted?

And should it not apply to just the word as is? Prefix/suffix matches should use wildcards imho.

See: Scunthrope problem

it mutes anything that contains the substring β€œnostr” most likely which is stupid

Can you mute based on exact phrases? If so, muting "#nostr" or "nostr is" or "nostr will" or "nostr fixes" might help.

That would be so annyoing that it's best to just give up πŸ˜†

Perhaps, but I suspect that maybe six or eight word combinations would mute 95% of mentions.

Can you mute a string with a leading or a trailing space? β€œnostr β€œ

Unfortunately you can't
