Agree. I'm definitely in the privacy extremists camp. But for zap's, people should chill imo. Moreover privacy wise I prefer not to connect my node to my social media activity.

That was one of my reasons for shutting my node down. In addition to just not wanting those funds online, I had shared it so much on Twitter that I decided if I ever run another one I’ll approach my setup differently.

Your original comment summed it up best. My node is just another hot wallet.

Albeit a very functional hot wallet for payments, but yea the risks associated with having those funds always online has to be taken into consideration. If you have 10 million sats locked up in channels simply to receive a few thousand sats in zaps, then that may not be worth the added risk for some people.

precisely. Have a channel with only a few thousand in sats to accept those zaps. my node functions as the middle man. I have a custodial extension wallet (getalby.com) all my zaps go there to an easy to read human readable address. then i send those to my node periodically and perform an onchain transaction to a wallet with private keys stored on a hardware wallet.

Weather my node is on 24/7 or not doesnt really matter anymore.

But it is where i connect all my main wallets to.

Not your node, not your rules.

💯 good approach in my opinion 🤙
