Don't know if it ever be fixed. I think most people will use some trust minimized solutions that will allow LN payments, things like Fedimints and Ark and Mercury.

definitely fixable, will just require smarter and more “protocolized” custody solutions so you can quickly switch between providers with easy custody offramps
