We need to fix lightning UX before zapping will be successful, and custodial wallets is not the solution. The reliability of custodial lightning has been going down.

If we think outside the box and custody solutions are sufficient for small values in Lightning, but for slightly larger values, we have Liquid, and to store Bitcoin on-chain, we have Onchain.
This perspective is based on the current understanding that custody is not the only issue with Lightning, but also the channels and the inability to exchange larger values.

Thatās why itās great that anyone can build on lightning. Lightning would be pretty brittle if everyone in the world depended on Strike for it to be useful.
Yep, but lightning ābrittlenessā is not the reason why Strike is unavailable in those regions nor do I want everyone to use Strike. I simply avoid recommending it and highlight that itās not an option for many people. The point being made here is a variety of āreliableā lightning options for all, and that will come š¤š¼

Don't know if it ever be fixed. I think most people will use some trust minimized solutions that will allow LN payments, things like Fedimints and Ark and Mercury.
definitely fixable, will just require smarter and more āprotocolizedā custody solutions so you can quickly switch between providers with easy custody offramps

My Alby nwc seem so work well from Amethyst, so I wonder what is the issue?
I just do everything from my start 9 server now. Does Nostr relay, lightning node, and NWC all with minimal effort. But for ease of use idk how you would wrap up all that in one and make it dead simple.

There will be a big ring of liquidity (lnbig+wos) and a small self-custo device for each household š connected to that ring. But that will take another 3-6 years š
