Mochi the #catstr i decided i need to feed him chewy things and i thought, yeah, i think that shellfish are roodly chewy and will give his swollen gums a good massage

and the butter all over it probably also helps make it more appealing

i may have to just feed him actual food, i am super sketch on this commercial pet food, a few years back i figured out that they are probably lacing the "meat" and sauce saches with textured vegetable protein, because the cat wouldn't touch it

it's not really that much more expensive, probably i could feed him 2 days on the 3 euro shellfish pack, which means only double the cost with the benefit of stronger health and maybe he grows bigger than his daddy, because he ate superman food

i think it's a thing, gonna have to investigate

also, yesterday there was a fruit and fish truck guy rolled past my landlord's mother in law's house and i'd seen this guy around, it's a tradition on the island, it seems, most towns have at least one dude driving a truck around dealing out some kind of food product, in Sao Vicente it was the fresh fish man, who would announce all the time he is patrolling about teh wonderous fish he is mongering

Our pets get a little bit of dry and a little bit of canned, sometimes some (non-garlic, non-onion) added broth, sometimes some canned meat instead of the canned pet food.

yeah, i'm very inclined to go with the real food

250g of shucked shellfish frozen is 2.2 eur and is good for a day, his usual food somewhere between 1.5 and 2.4 depending on which i get, but none of these foods have chewy bits in them, and actually, i think he would get more chew action if i gave him chunks of spit roasted beef, 200g of that for a day i bet he'd basically not be hungry most of the rest of the day

i'm gonna explore it... there is also cod fish there, which is also quite cheap

i am on an island, and there is a huge fishing industry here... i'm pretty sure that most of the time the lights i see out in the ocean are from fishing vessels mostly long lines... the ocean fool is very far down very quickly around here, so we have cod and other deep sea stuff right on our doorstep

but yeah seriously, boiled meats are not conducive to good dental exercise, fried is the best, and big pieces, they need to have to tear it apart to really get the right exercise

If he's not used to chewy things it may take a bit for him to accept them as food. I had one cat that dove into a whole chicken wing with joyous fierce growls while his brother looked at me piteously and wouldn't even try to eat until I gave him chicken cut up in little bites.

Dry food is full of so much crap, some of it not even food. I agree the canned mush can't be good for their teeth and jaws.
