There is something curious, if you inquire about the percentage of taxes/tributes throughout history, whether in the feudal system, in rome, in the city states, etc, it is around 10%, it has been relatively stable (eye, it has not always been so, I am generalizing, for example in the Roman empire it was around 5% 😂). But since the foundation of modern states, this percentage tends to 100%, it just grows and grows and never reduces, simply because the current states are totally inefficient.
