you do realise most people like centralised services, right?
Discussion
Exactly. We're the rare ones
yes, this is gonna put more together to the same space
elon's idea has always been to build a WeChat for the rest of the world outside of China
this is an obvious purchase for him
to gather guaranteed content creators, users and attention
gonna put more people together to the same space*
if people are more spread out across different social media apps, then nostr is bigger
if it's more concise, then it ends up leaving nostr smaller
No king rules forever my son.

Two popular social platforms owned by a government employee makes them state media. It will not end well. Bring it on.
In that sense, we should've already seen a big spike in onboarding on Nostr regarding people switching over from X, ever since Elon became a government employee, if that was the case
We've seen 28M people leave Twitter for Bluesky. It's only a matter of time before they realize that Bluesky is no better than Twitter. It's inevitable.
Perhaps and I hope. But, the difference is that a large majority of those people who ditched X do like the censorship from Bluesky. It shields them from having to publicly defend their mental health issues. This is in contrast to X, and now soon Meta, where the moderation changes have people less cancelled for wrongspeak than before. I think many will stay in their silo of silencing at Bluesky. And only those who actually value open opinion will venture to Nostr.
Imagine someone saying "I like centralized services"
They don't even know what "centralized" means. The age of decentralization is rapidly approaching, tradeoffs will become more apparent as time progresses.
for the customer it means cheaper and faster
yes, when you talk about the state media aspect and control, that's a whole other thing, which i get and agree on, but i'm rather unsure, that most people would give that up, to join a clunky protocol
maybe if push comes to shove, they will, time will tell
Cheaper and faster doesn't always mean better.
The protocol will become less clunky over time.
Fuck Elon.
i'm not so confident that it's gonna go this way, but let's see, not picking a side
who knows, maybe an alternative and an improvement compared to nostr launches that gathers that market share
Exactly 🤣🤣🤣 No one on the street knows what that means. They see other day to day factors. That's why Twitter is bleeding users. Twitter becoming state media won't help this. TikTok becoming state media won't help this.
