But isn't that the point? Everyone use the client they want. And everyone have the freedom to build the client they want. And we never have to permanently commit to any of them. Endless competition.

It's a public service I guess 😅 I do believe anything that's not letting us control what we see is a broken model. And we shouldn't be pursuing broken models.
