If you ever want to be able to say that you have swam in an ocean... well, I guess it's a sea... go to the North of Sweden. The worst thing there is the cold. The water isn't even salty enough for most sea life. It's called brackish water apparently.

I think maybe a whale got lost on the southern part of Sweden once, but there are never anything dangerous in the north!

It would probably look like you're in a random lake though, unless you find a really good open spot, and Sweden has a ton of islands on the coastline.

I'm with you on the no interest in swimming with sharks!

When I was a kid, my father used to love swimming in the ocean. I used to stand on beach crying as I watched him go further and further out. It was my experience of existential dread. I remember all could think was that he was never coming back. Finally, my mother would scream at him to get back to the beach because he was terrorizing me. I've had a deep-seated fear of the ocean ever since. Thanks dad!

That sounds awful on so many levels. I feel sad you went through that. Bless you!!
