I was once a long term member of an organization. The organization changed and I left due to differences of opinion, but technically I still had years of membership remaining.

Anyway, that it how I one day came to find out I was a member of an organization that had some sort of "domestic terrorist" listing.

It still proves my point that you can end up on the list even if you truly did nothing wrong and even oppose the bad thing™ that got you on the list.
