True. I canβt see us going back to password anymore. Though, I think we need some recovery mechanisms.

I don't think most clients have integrated it already, but NIP-06 seems like the most reasonable way forward for now. We are presumably already comfortable with backing up & recovering mnemonics.

Yes exactly, identity based on key pairs as in nostr or pgp/gpg. This way of identifying yourself is fluid and goes against the central control that validates your identity. Identity validation in this case would be based on Web of trust (wot) to validate the link between the public key and the person behind it.
