The way I mentally prepare for a 100 miler is I run 10 miles at my planned race pace. Once I am done I then tell myself “you can definitely do that 9 more times.” It sounds funny but I think it works. Anybody else got any tricks like that?

That’s a clever trick - I like it!
On long, hard, runs I used to pick a telephone pole or mailbox and just focus on making it to that thing. Then pick another one. And so on. Instead of thinking about the whole amount I had left. But probably a lot of people use that one.
That is a good trick too. You just focus on getting to the next aid station. Run Woodstock/ Hallucination 100 is the best ultra in Michigan.
What part of Michigan does it go through?
The longest race I’ve done is a half-marathon. I’ve trimmed my running way back as I try to finally cure plantar fasciitis in my left foot, but when I was doing the most miles there seemed to be something about ten miles where my body was just not happy with me. My feet and knees especially seemed to start pitching a fit. I’m sure I could’ve taken some steps (no pun intended) to strengthen them and push beyond that but I guess I just didn’t have the motivation. Lol
I just don’t run 100 miles. Works every time I try it.
