Depends on what you mean by "full recovery phrase." Exposing half of your recovery phrase makes the rest of the phrase easier to brute force.

If you mean splitting it up with XOR, you keep the integrity of the cryptography with exposing your full seed.

The drawback is that it's more complicated and you should make multiple geographically distributed copies, in steel to avoid a single point of failure. The same is true of a passphrase and if you make a mistake you will need to either brute force it yourself or hodl forever.
