Memento mori...

I think about death and I fear death. It's unsettling and uncomfortable, but it invigorated me to think about the time and energy I have left in this life, and it focuses me on using it to produce and provide value to those who I love and my community.

The fear of death is perhaps the most powerful imposed of the human spirit.

What makes you fear death my friend

Mortality. We must die. But that's ok. The fear of death invigorates our impulse to live life well.

Have you read Life after Life by Dr. Raymond Moody?

The concept of nonexistence is very difficult for the human mind to grasp. But I think it's not so much the nonexistence part, but the transition from our animated, thinking selves to the state of nonexistence that causes us so much trouble. I'm not afraid of not existing, because I won't exist. I will have no awareness. There will be no I. But the thought of leaving my life, my experience, and all the people I love is terrifying. It's that terrible process that keeps me awake at night.
