first reason i can think of: it is exceedingly rare that i look at a post and think "this person should receive money for posting that!"

for paid content, say if i share one of my Bandcamp songs on here, a "zap to unlock" feature (a micropayment) would be more effective. maybe if i had a music bot that you could zap with a message to order a copy of a song...

So you don’t value valuable content?

i do, and the zap button does get used, but it feels a bit forced, if you know what i mean?

I don’t agree; you get to choose what you value and who you intend to send Sats.

Only you and no-one else. And it’s also you who decides how much you value content.

For content creators it triggers them to deliver as good content as possible if they want to earn something with it. It’s all free and open, making it a beautiful concept. No data harvesting, just value for value

That says more about the quality of accounts you follow than the usefulness of the zap button.

#[4] for example puts a lot of work into providing valuable analyses that I happily Zap.

Same goes for #[5] who provides valuable memes.

eh, nah, not falling for that argument ❀️
