Nostr noob thoughts & impressions:

(I don't expect anyone to care, nor do I think I have any audience for these thoughts lol).

It's impressive and addictive. What makes it more than a impressive bitcoin telegram group? Personally would like to see a wider variety of content and people. I assume and hope it'll move beyond the self-referential posts eg about zaps;) these things always do.

The zap function is a purple/orange pill, and if you have an interesting social network people are gravitating towards they will naturally seek out more info about this.

Isn't having a block /report user function rather than mute user (I'm using amethyst mostly) creating a shadowban list by another name - when it's applied to non-spam users? Wouldn't it be better not to blacklist actual users.

Anyway I'll stop writing. I barely know anything about this. Might delete anyway lol:)

Would be a shame for me to see you go. You're my fav so far. I love your notes/posts/provocations and I take your point about muting users, and I agree. You are trouble 🤨😁

I have no interest in the zap thing myself. I had to set up the fancy browser extension (Getalby) to prevent my private key from travelling across the wires when I log in on desktop and it means that now I can be zapped.

So far this has been a bit of fun but like all the other Twitter alternatives I reckon plenty of shit can and will happen and probably shit we can't even imagine yet.

Ha thanks. I'm not gonna go in the near future at least. I quite like it here, partly it's finding Other Content and partly to see what emerges, changes feel very fast. I'm not sure how I'm representing myself here lol I was hoping more goofy than 'trouble' lolol. I like bitcoiners and zaps as a function and would really like to see nostr succeed, and I suspect it just bloody might;) I mean, I even post bitcoin and zap stuff myself. I just try to imagine, say my friends who have no interest, would they join when the feed is predominantly that? Not sure ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

(Sorry, just anxiously clarifying after the 'trouble' thing lol).

Awww......I didn't mean that you're actually trouble. Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any anxiety at all. I was being sarcastic really. I should've said that differently. 'Goofy' is better.

I'd like to see nostr succeed too. It does remind me of the early Twitter daze when it was fast n loose yeeha!

Yeah I see what you mean about the zap/bitcoin feed. It could be a turn-off for many people, but these things are always very meta in the beginning. More varied content is perhaps a way forward in terms of content.
