i find that with a protocol so vast and new, hashtags are the healthiest way to discover notes without a client controlled algorithm. it’s not obnoxious on here either, rather it’s used to tag a post in its own genre, (categories), than for lousy desperation engagement purposes.

i know it’s old and tired, i never used hashtags for a reason. But protocol growth, and the categorization of notes for different interests, hobbies will create an easier space to retain new users. we need to be focused on the real issue of new users leaving after one day due to its lack of discoverability.

I also believe that we shouldn’t jump so quickly on giving up, and just implementing the same algorithms that made us come here in the first place. it’s complicated.

for now. #hashtags

That's how I've been trying to use them. Not even the trending ones, but stuff like "coding" and "gaming" just to make it easier for people to find at some point.

this is the way

It has helped me to find accounts that actually talk about stuff I'm kind of interested.

Still feels kind of empty because not everyone is that conscious of using then.

A hashtag recommendation would work for fast typers that are not thinking on the potential impact of their post.

What is your thought process when selecting hashtags?

it’ll grow, you’re early <3 thanks for staying on. nostr is still learning how to walk, in it’s crawling stages, the devs are creating. i definitely understand that it feels empty sometimes, and i follow more than a 1000 people bc i never want silence.

honestly, i am not the best person at remembering to add hashtags (your idea would be so perfect), but the one hashtag i’ve almost always remembered to use is #tunestr

the best hashtag, i love discovering new people through the music they post.

Great advise, I will follow it tomorrow and try to figure out if in 1 hour I can come up with a solution for hashtags recommendation.

If not i will post about it in habla so hopefully someone better suited for the job picks it up 😂
