Had a really good convo with mates at dinner re: privacy and I am now very worried again that my phone is always listening to me.

Is it?

Yes 😅

GrapheneOS on a de-googled Pixel is the only way I know to change this

True, but I’m growing suspicious about it… I can’t prove shit, it is just a gut feeling.

I feel the same. I get that things are open source and auditable, but I've never looked at graphene's code.

😬 I mean unless one can read code, it’s trust all the way I’ve realized.. not ideal!

I guess I am suing too many google things on my graphene is still cos I am pretty sure it's still listening?!? 🤔

MANUALLY TURN OFF MIC ACCESS. YOU CAN ADD & ACCESS THIS AS A QUICK TOGGLE TO YOUR SLIDE-DOWN CONTROL CENTER THING

Yes but do we KNOW it’s really off?? 😅

Ofc at least it’s better than doing nothin

Is this what you are referring to?

YEPPERS

I turned off every microphone permission on every app I don't actually need it in. It gives some peace of mind at least.

Yes. Definitely

Probably.

I run graphene and I'm still a bit paranoid. I can't tell because I don't see any ads anywhere I go.

I do know that other people's phones listen to me anyway. The uncanny accuracy of ads is obvious to everyone now. Maybe if I talk about Bitcoin their phones will try to sell it to them too 😂

Privacy is a collective effort, family and friends not using privacy phones are snitches to big tech.

Literally

CalyxsOS on a de-googled Pixel.

Most apps available on F-Droid.

Yes it is.

Yes. Just ask it!

Always. All ways.

Yes. Unless you disable the mic.

Probably still then

Yes

Definitely!!! Really time to join the #GrapheneOS team. #IVPN too will help.

It’s listening even when it is powered down

yes, of course it is

Yes. Literally. Yes.

Relevant question: Is someone else listening in?

Yes
