Unfortunately the storm troopers are just doing the bidding of corrupt politicians & political cronies. The US has mostly started aggressive wars, so thanking veterans for defending peace or freedom doesn't make much sense. Veterans are basically just people who were willing to kill in exchange for tax funded handouts. Maybe some of them really aren't smart enough to know what they were participating in. Many spend a lot of time trying not to see & the delusion fucks them up.
