Reacts on Nostr have psychological value. They are not worthless and zaps don't completely replace them.

Reacts have psychological value in other social networks too. Some Nostr clients might not use that as a product. Maybe πŸ€”

Agree.

Yes, I always feel something is missing when I only do one and not the other. I also like the fact that there are infinite number of combinations. I internally keep changing the reaction signature. 21s with β˜€οΈ, 37s with ✌️and so on xD

that psychological value goes away after some time I think.. & nothing has to really replace it, I think zaps are on a league of their own.

The value of a react to the receiver is temporary, for sure.

This is mostly just to say that the only-zaps ethos drops that value entirely. Some people have been making the claim that zaps are the only way to communicate value over Nostr, but I don't think that's true.

To expand I would value a comment or quote over a zap. A comment requires action and show that I have created a response that has emotion behind it. A quote is a direct emotional response meant to juxtapose the two notes. a repost is only a button push. One that means my audiences should see this too but not much else.

I understand that a like can have value I feel a zap has more

Right on you move me Dan πŸ’œπŸ«‚πŸ«‘

Totally agree πŸ«‚

A reaction says β€œthank you for that”

A zap says β€œplease do more of that”

That's a really good way of seeing it.

yeah temporary in both senses, cause i actually meant that over time.. the more time you’re not on algorithm driven platforms you care less if you received a reaction for the content you post, you tend to value the conversations under that content much much more.. I see both sides for sure.

The problem isn’t that they have no psychological value to the recipient, it’s that potentially they have no value to the sender. πŸ«‚
