If anyone is taking notes:

- Say it's environmentally destructive without doing any analysis on the alternatives

- Say it's a scam and point to actual scams that used cryotocurrency. Ignore the other use cases

- Run that same play with other criminals as well

- Plant a few toxic assholes in "the community" to try to make the community look bad

- Scream CENSORSHIP if anyone tries to counter these assholes

This will ensure you can focus your social manipulation on just a dozen or so platforms. Anyone who is starting to cause trouble can be cut off from financial support (like was done to Wikileaks).

And for anyone who wants balance to this playbook, basically juat do all the things ghat thwart those plays.

Explain that Bitcoin's energy usage is far lass than what is required for the traditional banking system. Show them projects that put the heat energy to good use (heating hot tubs, dehydrating food, keeping baby farm animals warm, supplimental heat for your home in the winter, etc.).

Acknowldge that scams have occured, and will in the future, but there are ways you can protect yourself.

Remind people that most criminals use dollars and euros and the like, not cryptocurrencies.

To people who are concerned with not understanding everything about Bitcoin, point out that they don't need to. Just like they likely don't understand the fractional reserve banking system to pay in dollars, they can use Bitcoin without understanding the internals. Just make sure they understand who is holding their money, and what basic risks are associated with the answer.

When someone in the community is being an ass, try to get them to engage in a civil discourse instead. If they're not interested in that, let them spout off their nonsense into the wind.

When there is a legitimate debate in the community (block size, drivechains, etc.) keep the discourse civil. Sure memes are fun and all, but they are not a replacement for a civil conversation on the topic.

And yes, I've seen all of the above, both for better or for worse. I expect that if people see these posts, I'll be attacked for being the messenger. The attacks would be putting words in my mouth, blowing things out of proportion. They'll be laced with sarcasim, appeal to popular imagery to maximize the boosts/sharing. They'd accuse me of being new to the community, and try to lump me in with some unpopular group amongst their target audience.

What the so-called trolls absolutely would not do is address the substance of the message.

Fortunately I'm almost certainly not popular enough to gain their attention.
