Turns out I like learning when I can choose the subject.

No more memorizing state capitals to make the State seem legitimate. When would this be useful? I could just look it up

The brain creates a new learned concept with other parts of the brain when something is learned. This creates the foundation to think critically or creatively about said concept or others.

For example, questions like "how is X similar to Y... and what happens if Z is introduced" are possible through learning information.

Many students didn't want to learn fractions, then multiplication, then subtraction and addition. Same in other educational areas. Why learn, if you can look it up?
