What Canada should do is refuse to sell any oil and energy to the US while all the tariffs are in place. That sure would get that orange asshole’s attention. The US would be in big trouble right now without Canada’s oil and electricity. Close the tap, switch off the lights.
The feds do not control what happens to Alberta resources. They've continuously used the threat of shutting down oil exports on national TV, when they know full well it isn't their decision to make.
Unfortunately, they've blocked every pipeline project that would have allowed Alberta to export to other nations across the seas, so 90% of supply is sold to the US.
Stopping oil exports to the US would destroy our province. We'll keep selling and doing our thing.
Honestly, it feels like a slap in the face, that people now consider it "Canada's oil", after being constantly attacked for our "dirty Alberta tar sands" for years.
I understand what you mean.
Canada hands are tied here , US is their only energy customer , they can’t possibly logistically export to any other country , and they’re very dependent on that income . And on the other hand The US can produce it’s own energy , tap into reserves , has major plan B / C /D for any possible grid cutoff , and can import oil from any country they want , It’s a loose loose situation for Canada , it sucks but thats the current situation
I think the US can only import oil from Canada or Venezuela, the only kind crude of oil its refineries can process.
You forgot Saudi arabia Brasil Colombia and all the overseas US refineries , some of them unofficial in countries that Received “Democracy” long story short if any of these countries want to fight back it should be in other forms of trade not energy and diplomacy
