The stewards got it right. Verstappen carried too much speed into Turn 1, cut the corner, and kept the lead, gaining a clear advantage. Piastri was alongside at the apex, so it was his corner per the rules. The five-second penalty was fair, even lenient, as it was Lap 1. Without it, Max likely wins, but that’s racing—play by the book or pay the price.
