The pubkey in his recent Twitter post doesn’t much the one on Damus or am I seing wrong?🤔

Damus uses bech32 encoded keypairs and note id's. This is defined in NIP-19, https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/19.md. So if you convert the key you see in Damus to a hex string you'll get the correct key.
