I love that S9 comes with Tor support out oft the box. It makes several things more easy (at the acceptable cost of lower speed). It enables non technical people to run a Bitcoin or Monero node over Tor, which is more needed than ever.

Now as I understand it i2p has even better privacy guarantees than Tor, but is lacking adoption. So having i2p as a second parallel option or a second standard option seems like a great thing for people seeking to grow i2p infrastructure for Bitcoin and Monero.

I see. Yeah, the difference is that Tor has decent support from client browsers/applications, where as i2p does not. For example, it won't matter if your LND grpc interface is available over i2p because no wallets would support connecting to it.

This doesn't mean we won't support i2p network connection, it just means it's not a top priority.

We are focusing our immediate networking efforts around VPN and clearnet usage. Combined with Tor and local connectivity, this will make StartOS servers very accessible.

Yeah, I've read about it and it's great to hear, also I would prefer Tor only as the standard configuration so people have a secure system to start from. It made me think about i2p integration. The easier the masses can access anonymity networks the better. The more we use them the more time and effort will flow into those to make them work with higher speeds.
