"We can no more find a method for knowing God than for making God, because the knowledge of God is God himself dwelling in the soul. The most we can do is to prepare for his entry, to get out of his way, to remove the barriers, for until God himself acts within us there is nothing positive that we can do in this direction. We may, however, be certain that he will act—indeed, that he is *already* acting—though we have difficulty in becoming aware of this action because we are always trying to put imitations and substitutes of our own in its place. We fail to see through the window because we are painting pictures on the glass."

My pastor is preaching about this today (John 4)! His message is about ending racial division but the main point is people hide their sin behind religion and find “churches” that reinforce their ignorance so they never really get to know GOD. Some tend to confuse worship and faith while not caring to know the story of others and opening their hearts to truth. They only talk about Jesus to people that can’t/wont challenge their faith. Jesus in his awesomeness humbled himself, sat and had water with someone different from him, and revealed himself to a disgraced Samaritan woman at a well despite her issues. He changed her and ultimately changed the heart of other Samaritans.

Alan Watts on nostr post is great. But listening to Alan Watts is amazing. He did some sort of conceptual album I think? I was trying to find it the other day.
