Mental health declines when people feel trapped. The ever increasing number of laws & regulations & insane constraints on basic ways of living traps people. Fiat monetary debasement traps people into a sort of financial slavery where most feel their living standards declining. When people feel like they have no way up or out they often turn to drugs (legal or illegal) & they often harm themselves or others.

Teen suicide became a massive problem in Japan likely because of their ridgid culture & inflationary policies. If the culture is less ridgid then hedonism & violence increase with monetary debasement.

Why? Guns don’t shoot themselves. It’s the people who believe touching a gun magically turns you into a homicidal maniac that might have mental health issues. Because that isn’t a sane thing to think.
