I say what I think here on nostr, even if I know it won't be popular.

And I love that people debate me, but still respect me, and that we can have different opinions and not become haters.

Due to comments I received a few weeks ago about being overweight, I was inspired to lose weight again. It is progressing fairly rapidly. Thanks for the support.

Most people suggested I do keto. I've chosen not to use keto for a number of reasons:

* The overwhelming amount of evidence towards a mediterranean diet from longevity, nutrition, and atherosclerosis research

* My recent development of gout which contraindicates purines

* My high blood lipids which contraindicate saturated fat

Losing weight is not my endpoint. Survival is. The mediterranean diet has more evidence that it confers longevity than any other diet. And don't worry, dietery choices are not the major mechanism here - quantity/fasting/exercise are. Quibbling over which food really is the smaller issue.

Clearly there are a lot of highly opinionated people who are skeptical of "mainstream" nutrition science. I'm not. But I hope you all recognize that I respect skepticism.
