Normal Western 16 year olds however know all about sex. They've talked about it, read about it, seen video of it, and they have the hormones that made them ready for it. A diametrically opposite situation.

@RealBabyShapiro Sure some asshole might use trickery, force, or coercion to rape a 16 year old. That is rape. That is the same as if the victim is 30, 50, or 100 years old.

But since a 16 year old understands sex, he/she is able to make an informed decision about if, when, and with whom.

@RealBabyShapiro Even really stupid states that set the age of consent ridiculously high, like 18, almost always have close-in-age exceptions, because they know perfectly well that 16 year olds can and do consent all the time. They are not children. They are young adults.
