I remember telling my uncle, who is German and lives there, that I hated to admit it, but döner was my favorite food in Germany! He told me, "You know what? It's mine, too." 😆

Basically, the national dish. My cousin's daughter is coming over to Germany, soon, and asked my kids what to eat, while she was in Berlin, and they both said DÖNER!!

The funniest part of the conversation, was that she was like, Oh, but isn't that Turkish food?, and my kids were like,

Whoa! They have Döner in Turkey, too?

According to this article, some extremist in Istanbul is trying to get the word "Döner" trademarked, so that Germans can't use it. The German government has lodged a formal complaint with the EU.
