PSA: It is not safe to externally manage the on chain funds of a Lightning Wallet with normal tools like Sparrow or Electrum. There are advanced scripts with other parties involved with Lightning channels and you may cause those funds to be unrecoverable.

This seems to suggest that the funds in channels are in some cases encumbered by the state of UTXOs that are only spendable by one party?
Am i getting this wrong or can you elaborate or point me to a resource that can explain?
Lightning works by having presigned transactions spending the multisig. If you fee bump the funding tx outside your lightning wallet, the transaction will change and those pre signed transactions will no longer be valid, thus locking up the funds.
isnt the fee bumping attempt coming from the single sig side? ive never tried either but ive assumed if i underpaid a channel open the only viable way to add more funds for fees would be cpfp referencing the change back to my side.
Yeah exactly that's the correct way to do it, if you rbf you need to tell your channel peer about it. I'm not sure if every implementation supports that though
