There is a lot of buzz irt FOSS and digital sovereignty in government and NGO circles these day. And eventhough if you would read what that would have to say you'd spring up like an excited puppy and rush to them to share Nostr, i am skeptical.

The thing is, whenever you enter this type of committee clusterfuck, they will always have demands, they will always have interests to protect and as a result you get this "compromise" that makes things suck from the get go.

If you were to introduce cash money today, they would deem it illegal, and give you a 1000 reasons why it is a bad idea. They could have (rather trivially) introduced "CBDC" two decades ago using e-cash, instantly making online payments easy, seamless and privacy preserving, and solving the 'too big to fail' problem right then and there; but ofcourse thats a no-go. And now that Bitcoin exists, they still try to ignore the fuck out of it.

TCP/IP has a somewhat similar story, and it is very likely Nostr will be no different. Now if you are so inclined to contact these people; fine, i will put on a suit, hop in my car or a plane an represent. But have no expectations on this front.

The only real way i see is to make ourselves inevitable, be that Bitcoin or Nostr.

Fait accompli

interesting observation on the e-cash as a CBDC 🙏

They could still do it, but not in a million years will they🤷‍♂️

Yep. 100% There’s no point in trying to convince this clusterfuck. Just build.

The good news would be that a sovereign couldn't care less about any of this.

Oh you have no idea how many times the word 'sovereign' is used in these types of documents. It is very hip!

They use „sovereign“ as „controlled by us and not by others“.

Sir, it follows the principles of democratic decission making, decentralization and interoperability, shared ownership and a culture of cooperation and sustainability. This allows us to defend and enhance fundamental rights, public values like democracy and transparenty!

Im sure some has bingo at this point.

i hav dealt with these sOrtZ & alwayz leAVE UNamazED*/*ya n_n/*****

are you serious that you think anyone here could live without interacting with the rest of the world that's controlled by the state?

People don't comprehend sovereignty anyway; its a mutual insurance of men with spears resulting in self determination by self determined means.

On an individual level this basically meaningless; on a group level you need some frontier with lots of space to flee/disassociate (which does not really exist anymore for the most part). So you are left contending with established organizations at mass scale (states).

My point here is not anti-State, its just that seeking their cooperation is probably useless, and success is more likely when they are simply forced/pressured to adjust to the new reality you introduce.

The main cause for why seeking their cooperation does not work is because in those endless layers of bureacrats and commitees, most are clueless to the topic and avoid responcibility like the plague; one might argue the reason for all those layers of bureacracy, committees and rapports is exactly that: to avoid the need for understanding and taking responcibility while still maintaining controll.

You could call it checks and balances, or call it a buffer to ease neuroticism. In any event; better to have them grind their gears to fit themselves to you, rather than getting grinded in those gears yourself ultimately leading your fitting inside of them.

well said, except that it's responsibility, with an S

Im a dyslexic typing my second language on my phone without spellingchecker. Idgaf, but thanks for bothering.

yes

Sure. Doesn’t mean you can’t tell or show them.

Like i said, tell me the time and place, and i will show up in a suit with a fresh haircut

If you provide the HAZMAT suit, i will consider entering the fediverse.

Scratch that, i will end up pulling my own hair, and male patern baldness is too far allong for me to risk that.

Would they also deem cars illegal if they were introduced today or not?

Given the push to make cars impractical now, i would say yes, probably.

"they"? why don't you run your own life like a grown-up.

Well the unfortunate part is that at the very least it concerns taxpayer money, or worst case full on regulations and demands. "They" will involve themselves with your life, whether you like it or not.

that's a professional troll, don't engage
