We're committed to funding existing and new builders who can help extend and re-enforce Bitcoin's tools and ecosystem. What will the next decade of infrastructure building bring?

We need a second, well-funded, fully-independent node implementation from Bitcoin Core.

Bonus points if it come with open source code to run your own mining pool!

What would that achieve?

Decentralization from a single code base.

I think it would take a long time until people would trust the new code base over the old one.

It's ok. As long as we have a stable option, people can decide as we go.

I feel like this applies to specced protocols in general, but not sure about Bitcoin. The problem is that its consensus is always re-implemented from a reference client, and a bug free reimplementation is close to impossible imo.

It's definitely possible. Specs are not needed to make software interoperate. It will be beneficial to us all to have fully separate implementations. More eyes on the code and an alternative if the main software goes rogue.

What do you mean with going rogue?

It's important that the tech we build supports Bitcoin's core values: self-sovereignty through the preservation of anonymity, accessibility, and decentralization. Together, these values build us a system where trustless financial transactions without intermediaries are a tangible reality for all, not an imagined ideal.
