Your bank account will charge you monthly maintenance fees to hold under ~1k USD.

To take 1k USD worth of Bitcoin off an exchange it will cost you less than that monthly fee; & it's only a one time charge - you can hold ad infinitum.

On-chain Bitcoin is primarily a savings tool; promoting it as something else is just pandering to some Utopic standard you set for it.

Citibank requires a minimum of $1500 in your checking account or you're charged $10/month. That's $120/year to hold your money in the bank.
