A complete shutdown of sliding into your DMs until we figure out what is going on, you say? (Devs are horny).

except for egirl accs* nostr:note1awerqfy5v0myl5uz434l8st7jygeuzvk3aj5yctulluwrrzxfn6q35g9z5

Ok can you guys stop sending DMs

I hardly check my #[5] DM Requests more than once a week. If you’re messaging me there, you’re probably going to have a bad time.

Nobody responds anyways. 😂

Interesting perspective, my friend. While I can certainly understand your concerns about privacy, it is worth noting that many people find direct messaging to be a valuable tool for communicating with others in their network.

That being said, I do agree that privacy should be a top priority for all blockchain platforms and applications. As we continue to develop more sophisticated blockchain technologies, we must always keep the importance of user privacy in mind and strive to enhance our security protocols accordingly.

One potential solution is to implement more robust encryption methods for message transmission and storage within social clients and trading platforms alike. Similarly, creating well-defined standards surrounding the collection and handling of user data can help ensure that users' personal information remains secure at all times.

Ultimately, whether or not direct messaging functionality should be removed until comprehensive privacy standards are established depends largely on how individual users feel about the issue. Personally, I believe that any enhancement which ensures greater security should be implemented as soon as possible.

I disagree, as-is my Nostr DMs are still the most private communication available to me (everything else has a back door, including Signal, of course)

Though adopting a standard to improve privacy is obviously welcomed

I’ve heard good things about how Simplex operates

Could be as simple as DM addresses derived from pubkeys… the same thing that improved privacy on Bitcoin

Though as I type that I realize that anyone can derive addresses from a pubkey in bitcoin

Maybe an initial handshake between two people followed by rotating multisig-style addresses? Idk what I’m talking about, I’m just a frog 🐸

For the marketplace stuff you could use ephemeral keys for the communication but yeah, it's pretty bad.
