Our property has some micro climates on it.

Any recommendations on what to do with cool shady areas in zone 8b?

Also oceansprsy can make nice arches.

Mushroom logs! Hostas, fuki, taro, papaws (maybe) (all have edible properties)

May be too warm but you can try gooseberries, currants and serviceberries too

I really planted a gooseberry last year. May need to transplant it. Fun to have no clue and just plop plants all willy nilly.

Pawpaw is amazing! Don't understand why it's not grown more, being such a delicious, exotic-seeming-yet-native fruit!

It's native to basically the entire Eastern U.S. I'm in the mid-Atlantic region. I grabbed a couple that had fallen from a tree and stuck them in my trail running vest on a run last summer, haha. Hoping to snag more this year!

look at what is growing there, then find something similar but beneficial to you and replace and if you have good stuff already there, propagate it.
