"The States" is arguably more correct than any reference which suggests it is one political blob. The founders always referred to "these United States" as a plurality.

it's not because that gives a false ideology of what the "political blob" is. Each represensative may represent the state but in the house of represensatives they are all united in deciding whats best for the country. No matters whos ideals or opportunities may present themselves they are all united in one goal which is to keep their seat. To think each state has individuality is not governed by federal regulation is crazy.
