Keep it real that's a very very long answer to your question but overall it build on code aka trust, proof of work secures the network. Bitcoin can be bough in fractions so people could get in.. It's still early and once the network stables out it will be a different story. For now we haven't yet grasp #bitcoin full potential. So imagine that!
