Companies hire applicants who make pretty resumes and use bogus buzzwords that mean nothing in the real world and give control over applicant decisions to people who generally have no understanding how the business makes money.

HR = JC Penny’s perfume department employees.

Its outrageous. Interviews via the hr department are gate checks to make sure only the applicants that pass the “vibe check” are pushed to the next stage of interviews.

Unfortunately Ive noticed that companies look for conformity instead of innovation. They would rather a pat on the back for the great job theyve done. Rather than someone who will come into the business and shake the tree a little if you will. Someone who will use their brain to solve problems and improve the business.
