The trails are snowy and icy. The roads are not much better. It's snowed a few times in the last couple weeks. The last storm ended in ice and freezing rain, so there is this glaze of slickness atop the snow.

The ice reminds of a time when I was a kid and we got 1/2 to 3/4 inch of ice on top of the snow it froze and glazed over thickly. The ice was solid enough to skate on. The kids in the neighborhood spent days skating to each other's houses and throughout the woods and greater area. Haven't seen that much ice atop snow since. That was a storm just prior to the blizzard of 78.

Trudging through the #natchaugtrail on foot takes a bit longer. There are areas that kinda hold my weight, but mainly I fall through the ice and sometime my toes get caught on the icehole trying make the next step.

Jerry's bench is all icy too

Even the dogs dislike this icy layer. I just cut all their nails so it is harder for them to get a grip. They slip and slide while trying to squat and do their business.

It's hard to imagine that I will be trout fishing here in a couple months.
