Its really cool that we have someone noting in the #architecture tag now. I've been hoping this would happen!

I think the main thing about modern architecture that is so objectionable is the overuse of boxes. Its like architects are trying to be engineers. Engineers are all about simplicity and efficiency. And since most buildings are actually designed by engineers, and its cheaper to hire an engineer than an architect, architects have chosen to imitate the engineers' work - and that's exactly the opposite of what they should do, IMO.
