Can't get voice input to work. Is there a trick?

I am avoiding the speech recognition. To me it feels awkward to use Graphene OS and allow Google to use the mic of my phone at the same time. Am I too paranoid?
I avoided it up until now too, but you can’t use it without , if you want to show maps on the big display in your car.
You don't even have to log into maps to use it. Additionally, you can restrict it a bit in the settings. When I set it up on Graphene I was following some privacy tutorial video ... But I can't find it anymore. Lately I've found nostr:npub16g4umvwj2pduqc8kt2rv6heq2vhvtulyrsr2a20d4suldwnkl4hquekv4h quite useful in helping me set up FOSS tech stuff.
