Is it really necessary to be informed about everything that happens in the world?

In my opinion it is impossible, as well as unnecessary.

Sometimes I don't even know what is happening to me.

I think it's harmful. it is a cognitive burden that brings no value to the individual and distracts us from the things that really matter. Furthermore, much of the so-called news is literally rubbish

Amen

Well said 🫑

I think it can be a harmful preoccupation for many people. Others are genuinely interested in world affairs and for them it's like any other interest people have.

I'm professionally obligated to stay somewhat informed on global issues, but I don't think that's any different than a mechanic staying informed on new car features.

In general, I think people would be better off knowing more about their immediate surroundings and less about the other side of the world.

"only" what can impact you - thats all

There is a quote I always think about this argument:

If you don’t listen to news, you are not informed, but if you listen to news you are misiformed πŸ₯Έ

A follow up question might be what would be a good idea to keep informed about in local, national and global events, and why?

?

We could start by asking, who is expanding their territory of influence that may infringe on our well being?
