Leeching off welfare is the cantillion effect for poor people. It's how they get close to the money printer. Leeching the system is one way to kill it. That being said, leeches that aren't also hard working are missing the point.

Being a leech hurts oneself and leaves one vulnerable. The ethics of being a leech is irrelevant.

I didn't directly point to Bitcoin but now that you bring it up, yes Bitcoin is an antidote to fiat. I like to think permaculture is as well. In the case of welfare and people "leeching", a phrase comes to mind; don't hate the player, hate the game.
