i use custodial wallets with small amount for convenience, being ecash based or not does not make a big difference but i like it more because you can choose mints, you also gain privacy. Other than that if if you dont use custodial wallets, there is still the cool feat that you can send LN payments over text so you can send as a text message to someone or in a http header, that is usefull imo.

Oh yeah, its nice to play around with.
I'd be completely fine with it if it was non-custodial and had a cryptographically secured unilateral exit mechanism. all the other features are very cool and fun to play with and hack on. I can see why people who are dumb enough to not care about the counterparty risk are having so much fun with it. but there's just that one giant deal breaker.....
