I agree. I do have a soft spot for desert-like environments, but nothing beats the green and lush mountain landscape.

Southwest Colorado is a nice mixture of the two. Not much nearby though.
We're lucky in Alberta to have the rocky mountains, beautiful prairies and the badlands.
