Tragic indeed. Not to sound awful and callous but taking a step back it is critical to understand how it is the Chinese operate on such a level and this here is a perfect example.
People love to talk about “cultural differences” but I find it is nothing but lip service. You need to genuinely understand. China doesn’t operate on the same Judeo Christian ethos as the West. Framing any approach in such a way ends up missing important points.
