Seems to me that means we need a way for those who post NSFW content to flag it themselves, and for those who don't want to see it to be able to filter it.

I was unter the impression that #grownostr is for anything not Bitcoin related. Was I incorrect, or is it everything except what some prefer not to see?

Most clients offer a way to mute me if you prefer not to see NSFW content. That will have to suffice until something better is implemented.

I'm not one to prejudge someone posting porn as one acting in bad faith. Its your prerogative to share porn, and nostr was designed to allow anyone to share anything they will. However to include nsfw on an unrelated hashtag is subversive.

The purpose of the grownostr hashtag is to attract people to the technology by giving them a rally point for content of general interest and to share things they're doing in life that other people might find interesting. It is hoped that grownostr would build a sense of community on a bitcoin centric platform for people that have interests broader than bitcoin alone. To include nsfw nudes under that category is dubious no matter how wholesome yours may be.

Most nostr clients aren't as fully featured as you suggest, and I you dont initially strike me as someone that intended to be rude. There are plenty of sex workers on nostr that know how to coexist with men that might have wives or children looking over their shoulder and its not silly or funny disrespect their boundaries. I'm only bringing it to your attention hoping you may have been mistaken about its purpose. You have to agree, there is certainly no shortage of porn on the internet and most prefer to not find it where they don't expect it.

Subversive is a strong word for it. You do make a fair point about people preferring not to see NSFW content where they aren't expecting it, though.

I said he made a fair point, not that I am caving.

In the end, I think users will need to stay away from any type of public feed if they don't want to come across NSFW content. If you are worried that your wife might come along and see something incriminating over your shoulder, you should probably stick to your feed that only shows what people you follow have posted.

Nostr is the wild west of the internet and anyone stepping outside of their walled garden of their home feed is going to have to accept that fact until better filtering options are available.

I can understand why and empathize, but at the same time, if someone doesn't want to risk coming across content they aren't expecting, then maybe the places on Nostr that anyone can post anything for everyone to see aren't the places for them to frequent.

The entire point of Nostr is speech that is uncensorable, which means you will hear and see things in the public areas that you don't like and would rather not have seen, and that you would not want your spouse or employer looking over your shoulder when you happened upon it.

If you don't like that, then you cultivate a list of people to follow who only post what you are fine with seeing, and stay there.

The bottom line is, anywhere that people can post whatever they want in a public forum, you are guaranteed to eventually get people posting NSFW content. You either need to be able to live with that, or there need to be better options for people to filter it out if they don't want to see it.

but, no, they want to come here and control this too. stupid fucks like them come here and think they can say pretty please or "kindly" to try and get us to cendor ourselves... that's what i push back hard and say #fuckfascists . they want us to cave & bow to them. they get us second guessing what we post. well, fuck them.
