I was kinda thinking that the energy needed for the total traverse over such a long time period might not need energy dense solutions but I don't see why a small Honda generator and a battery pack wouldn't also work.
Do you have any other ideas?

The problem statement is not clear to me. What are you trying to achieve?
For instance, are you aiming to feed cattle in different parts of the field?
Rotational grazing on 360+ one acre paddocks. Lots of moving.
Ag is way out of my area of knowledge, no idea how to move cattle 🐮.
If your hypothesis is that presence of water in a trough will help with incentivizing cattle to move, from an engineering perspective a relatively straightforward solution to transport water is some form of pipeline. Material out of polyethylene, or pvc.
You can design the system to move water from point A to B, and you can manually or programmatically turn on flow at certain points in time.
